Luke and I were down in the Southern Highlands for the weekend for a Wedding, so thought it was a great idea for a trip down Watta Canyon on the Sunday. We met up with Haydo on a VERY sunny October day.
There was this cute little rock archway, which looked like a frog face to me!
I have read track notes where this opening has been fully clogged and blocked with debris, and has taken some canyoners a fair enough of time to clear a path through. I was relieved on the day that we didn’t have to do that ourselves!
One of my favourite photos of us in a canyon! This abseil can be a bit of a nightmare in heavy flow.

We made sure to have the rope protector on the big drop. Abseilers have died on this pitch when their rope was cut by the sharp rock. Unfortunately accidents and deaths do happen in canyons, its important to always be prepared and canyon with someone experienced.

It is a short but very fun Southern Highlands canyon. After the final pitch its a pretty easy bushwalk back to the cars.
