Fungi

During a road trip through the Great Otways and along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria in 2023, I became fascinated with Fungi.

The interesting shapes, the vibrant bright colours and all the textures and sizes you can imagine! Walking along hiking trails became a lucky draw to see what kind of mushroom would pop up next.

I didn’t realise at the time that blue or purple mushrooms existed… or gloopey ones, one shaped like brains or cages?! Not to mention ones that glow in the dark!

Since this trip in 2023, I have only become more and more obsessed with finding and documenting Fungi. What started out as a fun addition to my already planned out hiking or canyoning adventures, is now fast becoming the reason I plan certain hikes!

I have photographed and documented roughly 130 different species of Fungi… and counting!

Tasmania Fungi

New South Wales Fungi

I’m Rach!

Welcome to Rachmartee, my personal collection of adventures through-out Australia over the years. Here, I invite you to join me, my friends or my pups on a journey of mishaps, bush bashes, lesser known trails, heartfelt stories and epic scenery!

I have lived and grown up within the ACT and rural NSW my whole life. Getting outside fills my heart with joy and wonder, it calms my nerves, helps me feel grounded and helps me feel connected to this world. I hope these stories and adventures will be an archive collection I can reflect back on for many years, for my family to see what I am getting up to on all these crazy trips and for my children to one day see the crazy and wild things that shaped who their mother is.
