The Sunday after we completed our 3 Canyons in a day, we decided why not add a 4th canyon into the weekends adventures!

We had seen a bit of an online discussion about a recently re-discovered canyon near Bells Line of Road, so decided we wanted to check it out for ourselves.

The walk to the start of the creek took no time at all!

The canyon sits on what looks like an unremarkable and dry creek tributary to a larger creek system, so it makes sense it had been forgotten for some time.

It was a pretty dry creek, even with a strong year for rains, but the abseils and canyon formation of the creek were interesting.

The canyoners that descended this creek thought they had discovered a new canyon, and so named is Crystal Slot Canyon after the section of canyon shown in the above image. The water in this particular section is so crystal clear.

Unfortunately to the canyoner’s excitement of discovering a new canyon, this canyon had already been discovered in the early 2000’s and named Sleeper Canyon due to its proximity to the railway line.

Another very cool feature of this canyon is the abseil through a naturally formed hole in the rock!

We then followed the usual canyon exit for Koombanda Canyon.

A beautiful day to be outside.
